Tetyana Dovzhuk MD, PhD
Senior Refractive Fellow
Dr. Dovzhuk received her MD at Sumy Medical University and her PhD in retina at Kharkov National Medical University in Ukraine, where she also completed her residency in ophthalmology. For six years, Dr. Dovzhuk ran the largest laser vision center in Ukraine (“AILAS”), where she performed and assisted on thousands of LASIK cases. She decided to come to New York to study under Dr. Chynn to master the newer, safer LASEK procedure, & has now assisted Dr. Chynn on over 5,000 LASEK cases over 5 years. Dr. Dovzhuk also has specialized retinal training.
Dr. Dovzhuk is also an expert in Ortho-K, which is a procedure where a special hard contact lens is worn at night to reduce the progression of myopia, which changes the shape of the cornea each night, so the children don’t have to wear glasses or contacts in the daytime. This is a great option for our patients younger than 18 years of age, before they are eligible to correct their vision permanently with LASEK.
Dr. Dovzhuk is an expert in LASIK, PRK, LASEK, SMILE, ICL, CXL, KC, Ortho-K, Corneal Tattoo, Eye Jewelry, as well as other procedures. However, English is her 3rd language (after Ukrainian & Russian), so please speak slowly to her, and if you need any translation assistance, feel free to ask an intern or Dr. Chynn.
